Trash cinema is a blessed genre unto itself. Tom Ritter's absolutely insane opus, Sharks of the Corn is a pinnacle of low budget horror. It's impossible not to be reminded of Wes Craven's horror epic Shocker when viewing, the film is over two hours and weaves not so complex threads together to create a wonderfully putrid amalgam of sex, spies, cultists, corn, and sharks. No matter how you feel about the last two Matrix movies, the next entry in the franchise is moving full steam ahead. With very few details known about the latest sequel, casting is still happening as the film continues production. Initially delayed due to the ongoing pandemic, Lana Wachowski is currently filming The Matrix 4 with returning cast members Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Annie Moss. After a couple years of fan talk and then the official announcement that the director was finally getting his very own cut that would reflect his original vision of the Justice League, the nearly four hour version will be hitting HBO Max on March 18th, 2021. Just this weekend we saw a new preview that brought Jared Leto's Joker back into the mix as he uttered the famed, "We live in a society...". It's been known for a while that this massively extended vision of the super hero team up would hit HBO Max exclusively and will hopefully see a blu-ray and 4K home release. While the internet and social media is at war with itself over Snyder's cut of the film, it looks like Warner has officially decided to never give the project a theatrical release at all. While fans of the Alien saga continue to wonder if there will ever be another movie, we've been given some good news over the last few months. A television show is in active production and Aliens is getting a new direct sequel from Marvel Comics. Also, it looks like the franchised universe will continue on in video game form. The latest news says that the upcoming Aliens: Fireteam Elite will be releasing to a multitude of gaming platforms later this summer. The co-op wave based shooter is being readied for release by Cold Iron Studios this August 24th. This game will be available on Playstation 4 and 5, Xbox One and the X/S systems as well. Every few years it seems that a studio is rebooting or revamping the tale of Zorro with a new film or iteration of the character. Well, they're at it again. It looks as though director Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead, Don't Breathe) has been tapped to tell the latest tale about the masked swashbuckler. The latest version will be a origin tale of sorts as it will tell of what's said to be his first adventure, The Curse of Capistrano.
