November Mood Board: Rainbow Playroom

Posted By StephPurcell 1632 days ago on Home Decor

https://www.redesignedclassics.com - This month’s mood board is for the kids! I was given a project to help create a functional playroom space for two little girls and it was so much fun! For this design I wanted to use lots of fun vibrant colors and incorporate the girls’ love of unicorns and dinosaurs. To give the room some extra whimsy I suggest a cloud wallpaper on the ceiling with bright white wall paint. I wanted to separate the room into different areas with the help of rugs and decor. The center of the room can be anchored by a table and chairs with a large ombre rainbow area rug underneath. Bookcases and bookshelves can easily line a wall and allow for ample storage while also allowing for a great place to read and stretch out. I added a smaller area rug with clouds to mimic the ceiling and added floor pillows with

Creating a Cozy Ambience

https://www.redesignedclassics.com - Fall is one of my favorite seasons, not only are we gearing up for all the good holidays (Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas!!!) but it’s also sweater weather! I love the change in the air and crisp fall days. Which has lead me on my current hunt for all things “cozy” to decorate the home with. I am sharing some of my favorite go-tos as well as new finds.   Candles Marshmallow Fireside is my must have for fall.  Nothing beats the glow of a warm fireplace, but if you don’t have one a grouping of candles is just as nice. You still get that s

October's Mood Board Monday!

Posted By StephPurcell 1660 days ago on Home Decor

https://www.redesignedclassics.com - For this month’s mood board I am sharing with you a bathroom refresh that I did recently. I love the warm, rich colors of this design with its gold accents. With fall well under way these colors are screaming to be used! I am thinking you could even seasonally decorate this room with some pumpkins and decorative gourds-for the truly festive. For this bathroom I chose classic elements for a timeless look with a modern re-rake. White subway tile with vintage inspired floor tiles are done in a standard black and white that goes with anything. A decorative Persian rug* in rich colors adds warmth and depth in a sophisticated way while the more modern fixtures in gold gives the room clean lines and a contemporary feel. Using an open glass shower door gives the illusion of more space and keeps t

Target's Anniversary Collection is Released!

https://www.redesignedclassics.com - I love everything about Target- the home decor, the clothes, the groceries. It is a true one stop shop and today they released their 20th anniversary collection! Which means they are sharing 300 limited-edition items. As a self proclaimed fanatic of all things, retro, vintage and nostalgic I could not be more excited! I am not the only one either as several items are already selling out. So, I have created a list below of some of my favorites from their “Home” section. Lily Pulitzer Cocktail Glass Set This 4 piece cocktail glass set reminds me of the melamine glasses my gr

September's Mood Board: Sophisticated Modern

Posted By StephPurcell 1695 days ago on Home Decor

https://www.redesignedclassics.com - This design is one I did for a client’s master bedroom. I wanted to create separate spaces within their long rectangular room to allow for a more formal sitting area in front of the bed. I also wanted the room to be more contemporary while remaining inviting. Having a place you can feel at home in, is just as important as good design esthetic. To do this I incorporated a lot of modern elements and mid-century style furniture with soft fabrics and pastel colors. Nothing too harsh. Adding some gold and pink accents creates a feminine touch and combining different patterns adds depth and interest. I suggested a light blue paint color for the walls to add more color to the room in a subtle yet neutral way. The end design turned out to be one of my favorites and I hope you agree!

Ideas for How to Create a Small Office Space Anywhere

Posted By StephPurcell 1706 days ago on Home Decor

https://www.redesignedclassics.com - I just moved to NYC for the next few months and my temporary apartment is the cutest-but it is SMALL! It has me doing some serious thinking about how to incorporate an office space in a functional and efficient way without taking up any room. Below are some creative ideas that I have found!Redefine Your Closet Space  Photo by: Ryan Pavlovich  I found this clever idea on Architectural Digest and it is genius! I mean as long as you don’t actually need your closet for storage or clothes, which I do, so it may not be a viable option for me. But I do love the idea of repurposing a space!Utilize a Drop Table

Mid Century Modern turns Bohemian: How to Incorporate Decorative Souvenirs

Posted By StephPurcell 1712 days ago on Home Decor

https://www.redesignedclassics.com - Since my trips to the middle east this past year I have been stocking up on some great artifacts, textiles and souvenirs. I knew I wanted to include them in our new home and with our move done I am so happy to share how I have added these unique pieces to my design. While on my trip in Doha (you can read about it here!) I picked up the most magical lamp. It is absolutely swoon worthy and every time I see it all lit up I fall in love with it all over again. It matches absolutely nothing in my home-or so I thought. But upon closer inspection there are a lot of greens and blues which I tend to have a lot of in my home. Photo: Mandy McGregor

This time, however, I will be sharing a new mood board on the first Monday of each month. As today is the first Monday in August, it means that today is one such day! You can get all the details on this month’s mood board below.MASTER BEDROOM SERENE ESCAPE Today I’m sharing a serene escape I created for a client’s bedroom. Ceiling Lights and Fixtures that Won't Disappoint

Posted By StephPurcell 1726 days ago on Home Decor

https://www.redesignedclassics.com - Recently I’ve been contemplating an upgrade in my home ceiling lights. Right now we have the standard fixtures that came with the house. Lighting, in my opinion, is one of the most over looked aspects of a room’s design. Not just the lack of lighting, but the lack of a fun variety and style of lighting. I don’t want to fall into this trap myself and have started to do some searching. Read on to discover some of my favorite finds to so far! Dubai Day Trip

Posted By StephPurcell 1733 days ago on Home Decor

https://www.redesignedclassics.com - While I was in the UAE I was close enough to Dubai that I had to take a quick trip over to see it. It is one of those cities on my bucket list! It is such a fascinating display of wealth and architecture. I only had one afternoon here so my time was limited, but I knew I wanted to see the Burj Khalifa.

Found a Vintage Vanity and Now I Get Ready Like a Movie Star

Posted By StephPurcell 1733 days ago on Home Decor

https://www.redesignedclassics.com - Lately I have been really successful in all of my thrift store searching. Sometimes you come away with nothing and sometimes you come away with a vintage vanity for $50!!! I couldn’t believe my luck when I found this forgotten beauty-I knew I had to have it and with a price that low it was probably destiny. The vanity is not in perfect mint condition, there are a few scratches here and there, a broken mirror clip and missing glass shelves-but all things I can replace and fix.

I have started a habit of bringing back pieces I can decorate my home with and this trip was no exception.

DIY: New Wallpaper Bookcase Reveal (With Cheap & Easy Tips!)

Posted By StephPurcell 1734 days ago on Home Decor

https://www.redesignedclassics.com - If you saw my Home Tour, you know that one of my favorite parts of our current house is all its built-in nooks and crannies. One particular favorite is our built-in bookshelf in the living room. It is on a curved corner and very much in plain sight. With the majority of my time being spent on the house’s layout at large, I didn’t have time to really focus on the little details (like this bookcase). I knew I wanted to add some extra pizzaz to it and came up with the idea to wallpaper it!

See How I Transformed a Set for a Romantic Comedy

Posted By StephPurcell 1734 days ago on Home Decor

https://www.redesignedclassics.com - Every once in awhile you meet someone that is at the same time inspiring, giving, passionate, talented and kind. I am lucky enough to know three such ladies and had the absolute pleasure of getting to team up with them on a new rom-com series called, “Confessions From the Friendzone.” I am one of the Producers and as luck would have it, also the Production Designer. With four different locations to shoot at, two weeks to shoot in, and countless hours of prep-we had our work cut out for is. Fortunately my collaborative team of girls let me run wild with my design ideas. Bless them for trusting me and letting me do my thing-it is always easier (and more fun) when your co-workers trust you and value your work. (Have I mentioned how much I love these girls and working with them?!?)
