When I head out to photograph, I often don't know what I am going to find. I have an idea, of course, but I don't know for certain. This is why I like the rocky shore. It is deceiving and there is always something to see.

The rocky shore is deceiving because always looks calm. As one observes, the swells roll in, they have to work their way through rocky apertures. The waves speed up and pour through the rock. The effect is mesmerizing and beautiful.

The actual principle is the "Bernoulli Principle". In Hydrodamica, 1738, Daniel Bernoulli explained that the speed of the fluid occurs simultaneously with a decrease in static pressure or a decrease in the fluid's potential energy.

The bottom line is that looking at waves hitting rocks is fascinating. And... beauty can be seen in all things.
