For this month’s mood board I am sharing with you a bathroom refresh that I did recently. I love the warm, rich colors of this design with its gold accents. With fall well under way these colors are screaming to be used! I am thinking you could even seasonally decorate this room with some pumpkins and decorative gourds-for the truly festive. For this bathroom I chose classic elements for a timeless look with a modern re-rake. White subway tile with vintage inspired floor tiles are done in a standard black and white that goes with anything. I am finally done with the completion of our second Airbnb! I recently shared the first unit in this post and can’t wait to give you all the details on our second unit!Both of our airbnbs have been up and running for about a month now and we have already learned so much. This design is one I did for a client’s master bedroom. I wanted to create separate spaces within their long rectangular room to allow for a more formal sitting area in front of the bed. I also wanted the room to be more contemporary while remaining inviting. Having a place you can feel at home in, is just as important as good design esthetic. To do this I incorporated a lot of modern elements and mid-century style furniture with soft fabrics and pastel colors. Nothing too harsh. Adding some gold and pink accents creates a feminine touch and combining different patterns adds depth and interest. I suggested a light blue paint color for the walls to add more color to the room in a subtle yet neutral way. The end design turned out to be one of my favorites and I hope you agree!

It’s the start of another week which means is must be MOOD BOARD MONDAY! Today I am featuring a more modern design with pops of color that I recently did for a client moving to a new house. They wanted something fresh and a little more modern while still keeping the feel of the space inviting. They key was to add lots of bold colors-my trick to doing this without making the space seem overwhelming is to keep a neutral consistent throughout. I did this by using the navy furniture and white walls as an anchor. The fireplace was originally brick and made the space seem dark and small, so we painted it white to match the walls. This added a lot of light to the space and really helped open it up.

Lately I have been really successful in all of my thrift store searching. Sometimes you come away with nothing and sometimes you come away with a vintage vanity for $50!!! I couldn’t believe my luck when I found this forgotten beauty-I knew I had to have it and with a price that low it was probably destiny. The vanity is not in perfect mint condition, there are a few scratches here and there, a broken mirror clip and missing glass shelves-but all things I can replace and fix.

Recently I’ve been contemplating an upgrade in my home ceiling lights. Right now we have the standard fixtures that came with the house. This month’s mood board is for the kids! I was given a project to help create a functional playroom space for two little girls and it was so much fun! For this design I wanted to use lots of fun vibrant colors and incorporate the girls’ love of unicorns and dinosaurs. To give the room some extra whimsy I suggest a cloud wallpaper on the ceiling with bright white wall paint. I wanted to separate the room into different areas with the help of rugs and decor. The center of the room can be anchored by a table and chairs with a large ombre rainbow area rug underneath. Bookcases and bookshelves can easily line a wall and allow for ample storage while also allowing for a great place to read and stretch out. With Spring under way I am all about opening those windows and letting some natural sunlight in! There is nothing I love more than a warm day with a cool breeze. In my opinion few things are better than a beautiful spring day with the sun high, plants in bloom and all things fresh and green. Which has led me to my latest venture-house plants.I’ll be the first to admit I have no green thumb, I lack the patience, knowledge and routine required of keeping most plants alive. But I love them-none the less. So this year I decided I was going to try it and for my birthday I received a Sansevieria plant. It is a rather low maintenance plant-which I need and so far it is going good.All this has lead me to today’s topic on plants: the easy and the pet friendly.
