As time passes we find ourselves adding more and more functionality to our blogs. I’m not sure if it’s caused from boredom or lack of interest but many times I see bloggers going to far to entertain their own needs and not the readers.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying this is anyone’s fault in specific but we have to start monitoring our blogs better. We have to take control of our blogging environment so we can keep it loading fast and clean.

In today’s article I’m going to share with you the most annoying things we add to our blogs from the perspective of a blog reader. It’s entirely up to you if you want to take my advice or not.

1. Abusing your sidebar – Don’t be that blogger that ads 10, 125 ads to their sidebar. Not only does this distract your reader it also takes time to load. Remove some of them and create a more friendly and clean environment for your visitors. Focus on two good performers not 10 you know nothing about.

2. Pop Up Domination- Please give me a break. I’m not going to subscribe to your e-mails by adding a huge pop up as I visit. I haven’t even seen or read any of your blogs content yet. Add a simple subscribe option to your sidebar after you remove some of those 125 ads spots.

3. Full Page Ads – This is probably one of the worst things I have seen come into the blogosphere. Making your full page an add is a huge no no and will dramatically reduce the amount of return visits you have to your blog.

4. Adding Apture to your blog. I will be the first to admit I’m extremely annoyed with these types of ad dons. First they never load fast for your visitors. You may think it’s fast but if you get 5 or 6 people visiting your blog it’s going to be slowed down dramatically. The reason it’s fast for you is because your system has cached their information.

5. Last but not least the most important thing you want to avoid adding to your blog when bored is Wibiya. This bar takes so long to load at times I simply close the page and rarely visit again. If you have multiple windows open in the same tab and visit any site using Wibiya you will soon realize how much of a lag it provides.

I know you are probably surprised by my choices today but in all honestly I don’t think these tools are good for any popular blog. Add the simple tools like a tweet meme button or face book like sidebar plug in.

As always I’m interested in your opinion. Let me know your thoughts below by leaving a comment. Thanks for visiting.
