I’ve owned blog engage now for almost three years and if there’s anyone that knows how to successfully enter our community your talking to him. These tips are recommended to anyone considering joining blog engage or any other social network that requires building relationships with it’s members.
Today I’ve been engaged in some pretty cool conversations at some of our members blogs and I thought it would be very appropriate to share the top five ways to enter any social network of your choice. (hopefully blog engage)
The reason I was inspired to write this post was because the articles I commented on were all about social networking and social community related information. The point of the articles were to get the most out of social networking as possible.
1. Profile Information – This is the most important aspect to joining any social community when trying to market your blog. Blog Engage allows two spots for external do follow links. The first is your home page and the second is your blog url. make sure to add as much information in the available fields as possible.

It’s so important to make your profile as human as possible. This attracts friends and visitors to your blog. Adding your occupation may lead to more visitors then you think. Remember our members are looking for other members with similar interests. Updating your profile is a great way to express this information to potential new blog readers.
2. Comment and Engage – This part requires little or not time. Start commenting on story pages (article submissions) on the blog engage website. You have to make yourself seen by the other members. Vote for their articles and send @ messages letting them know you enjoyed their article and voted for it. What you have to do here is be as proactive as possible. Get in the users face and make them realize your alive and trying to connect on a real and positive level.

3. Blog Commenting – Simply commenting on the blog engage website isn’t going to be enough. Take the time to visit the bloggers article and engage in intellectual discussions. Build up conversations on their blog. As much as you enjoy company so do they and we need to respect this appreciation we all have.
4. Follow all blog engage members on twitter – This is a great way to extend your relationship and prove you are sincerely interested in creating a relationships with that member. Taking your marketing efforts to this level really pays off because now you have built an external relationships with the members.
5. Guest Blog Introductions – I’ve only seen this happen a few times, many bloggers don’t have the time to write a guest blog introduction but if you do I highly recommend it. This is a great way to build back links and get noticed in our large community. tell the community about yourself, hobbies, interests remember again were trying to make a connection here and build on our relationships.

Reach out using Blog engage and make sure to add friends with similar interests as you. Marketing doesn’t stop at blog engage it’s simply a great place to lay down the foundation.

Brian, I would love to follow everyone on BE in Twitter, is there any way to make one of the profile entries be a Twitter ID with link back to their URL? I mean MSN / AIM does anybody actually use those anymore over Twitter
I also just learned there were 2 places for URL in profile, so updated mine.

Yes, a profile that shows you real human for every public profile is the best. With human gravatar too of course

I think internet marketers tend to forget that marketing and promoting sites is for humans! I know sitting in front of a computer is cold and make us cold. Your tips are very valuable.
