Just wondering what you all think about the front page and what I have recently done with it.

I was bored and started playing around with the pages here on the site. Now like you I’m very picky in what I like and don’t like. I thought I would shoot out some of the pros and cons of using the current front page.

Pros

  • See site status in real time
  • The chance to see your article on the front page multiple times
  • Automatically refreshes content without page reloads
  • More active you are the more you’re seen

Cons

  • Load time is a little slow, counting 5 seconds at minimum.
  • The published stories need to be visited and no longer control the front page

Let me know your thoughts on the new look and if we should or shouldn’t keep it. Anyone who comments I will take your posts and add them to the pros and cons list.

My problem with the new front page is that it’s not intuitive (at least not to me). I didn’t spend much time scouring it, but it wasn’t immediately apparent what a “queued” blog was as opposed to published. Is that the same as “upcoming”? I know what a queue is (I lived in England long enough :) ), it’s the context I don’t understand. And I don’t understand the “action” column, either.

I guess I can kind of see that it shows the most recent actions, like the fact that I just voted on a bunch of stuff. Ew, kind of feel like it’s stalking me. Creepers.

It makes me feel I am dealing with numbers more than subjects, and I want to find the published and the upcoming, so this means one extra click that I really don’t need!

Plz,set the home page back to the same way it was, I feel not comfort with he new one!

Have you changed it back already? Can’t see much of a difference here if it’s the new version…
