When I first started using twitter I was a big supporter of the Tweetmeme button. I actually used it far before I changed to the Twitter Retweet button.
But after about 1.5 years Twitter made a huge change to their own Retweet button that made me switch.
For example, right now I’m on @Lisa Petrilli Blog and I’m about to Retweet her latest article named,
Inspiration for Letting Go of What Holds You Back
As you can clearly see (from the image below) I’m currently not following Lisa but right now I’m about to engage with her and start building on our future relationship.
The #1 reason you should use twitter over tweetmeme is because when I do tweet her article I automatically have the opportunity to follow her without revisiting my tweet on twitter. This is a huge increase in productivity and something that cannot be overlooked. So go ahead and make the switch today. Also if you do change make sure to read my article from today named, Twitter marketing tips for bloggers
With the Twitter button you can be more productive and have time to engage on other social media platforms. Do you have any more twitter marketing suggestions? I would love to hear them!

The follow + the ability to recommend up to 2 more accounts to follow when using the developer button are great reasons to use the Official Twitter button. Combine this with Anywhere and use a Tweetbox and you can even build in retweets into the verbiage by default as well.
I ditched the Tweetmeme button a long time ago, though I do miss the bit.ly tracking of links which t.co does not give you by default.

I agree Justin the benefits out weigh anything tweetmeme has to offer right now. I don’t think our members can afford to not market with Twitter’s official tweet button.

If it’s for engagement and interaction we should really go for it. After all any social media is for interaction and THEN come promotion.
Thanks Brian.

Hey that’s right Jane, I see you also use the official twitter button, seems we have a lot in common lol. You should add another user for your tweeters to follow. It’s a great marketing tool, maybe add blogengage haha!

Like you, I used to like Tweetmeme and was actually a big fan of it. However I started seeing more and more people using the official twitter button so I switched to it. Another reason is Tweetmeme actually isn’t showing the correct amount of retweets for my posts lately which is something that I don’t want to happen. I found that Twitter seems to be more accurate in counting the retweets.

Earlier, even I used Tweetmeme for my blog but now after the launch of official Twitter button I find it quite ugly. I also find that the Tweetmeme service is down sometimes, it’s more likely to be down than the official twitter button. Also, I have noticed that the twitter button showed more number of tweets than the Tweetmeme button. In my perspective, Tweetmeme button does a decent job, but the official Twitter button performs just too awesome.
