Brian: I would like to welcome and introduce our social spotlight guest this evening Mr Blaine Blogger. Blaine please take a moment and introduce yourself to our blogging community.

blaine

Blaine: Hello to everyone of you in the blogengage community. My name is Blaine Bullman but some may know me as blaineblogger. Being an Irish blogging pioneer and an LDS (mormon) member has given me a unique and real perspective on making money online and blogging over the years.

Each persons path into the online world and blogosphere is unique so for me it all started nearly 6 years ago in 2004 when I came home one day to find what’s known now as a chain email of how a kid made $70,000 from his bedroom and to get the same results all you have to do is send $1 to each of the 5 names on the email so when you send it to others you take the last name out and put your name at number 1. Of course after trying it myself it crashed and burned but what was more important was the passion and fire that it sparked inside me of making money online.

Since then I’ve had small success with affiliate marketing, ebay selling and forex trading. Each success building on the next but nothing could have prepared me for the massive world that is blogging.

Brian: That was an amazing introduction What a great start to our social spotlight. I feel as if I’ve known you the entire 6 years you’ve been blogging. I cannot imagine the dedication needed in order to continue blogging for 6 years. Where do you get this motivation and also tell us what initially got you into blogging?

blaine

Blaine: What initially got me involved with blogging was when I received an email from my friend 4 years ago. We were talking about the different ways we were money online, the ideas we had and plans for future ventures. So one day he emails me about this ebook he bought and suggests I should buy it as well, after buying it and having the resell rights to it I started promoting it through forums, message boards, newsgroups and safelists. I then stumbled across blogging and found it a great new medium to promote my ebook and to express my thoughts.

My first blog was a blogspot blog and from there I discovered adsense. From making .50 cents to a few dollars a day I was quickly hooked to it’s potential. Being a big planner and thinking of the future I started to study and learn all I could about blogging, online marketing, traffic generation, SEO, design, anything that would educate me to the point where I was happy and ready to launch my main blog which is now blaineblogger.com.

brian

Brian: If our readers are considering the idea of visiting your blog what would you say to them? What is so unique or special about you? Tell our readers why they should be visiting your blog.

blaine

Blaine: I offer a personal, human and transparent view on what I do online, the personal projects and challenges I do, what I find, my ideas and my experiences. I believe so much in the human and relationship side of blogging, I always do my best to reply and talk to all my blog commenters, to interact with them, to value and appreciate them. As well as talking about the common topics I also will talk on blogger motivation and inspiration, reader questions, blog design, internet and online buyer psychology, blogger lifestyle and finishing it all off with regular videos.

brian

Brian: Let our readers know where you enjoy marketing your blog Blaine. Over the past 6 years you must had learned of many social sites?

blaine

Blaine: My favorite medium to market my blog by far is commenting on other blogs. Besides the obvious of traffic and links, I genuinely enjoy meeting, talking to and building relationships with other bloggers.

I also enjoy talking to people on forums which in turn gets a lot visitors to my blog by having a link in my signature. Blogengage is also a favorite of mine to get my posts noticed and to help other bloggers to get their content noticed. Marketing my blog through twitter is another way I bring traffic to my blog, in fact one of my little secrets to get up to 200% more clicks of links in my tweets is to use su.pr and you can read the blog post about it here at The Power Of Using Su.pr As Your URL Shortener

brian

Brian: Tell us what are your favorite social networks?

blaine

Blaine: I have 4 favorite social communities that I focus on. Number one being twitter, the ability to find, to be found and grow relationships is unparalleled. Second community I focus on is the sitepoint forum community, there are a range of topics including technology, SEO and website design with registered users numbering 340,000+.

Blogengage is the newest community that I’m excited about, the bloggers here are real bloggers, serious and passionate about what they blog about. The community feeling is great, it’s a fast growing community and I get some nice traffic as well. Facebook is my most personal community with my closest friends, if you want to grow some real relationships and friends, then here is where you want to do it.

brian

Brian: From your blogging career what would you suggest to our readers that are new bloggers, what have you learned that’s valuable enough to share with us?

blaine

Blaine: Here is my key concept to becoming a successful blogger and growing a successful blog.

“HUMAN INTER-ACTION”

Let’s break that down into 3 points.

Be Human – You need to be transparent, you need to acknowledge your mistakes when they happen, you need to be yourself, you need to show your visitors and readers who you are. The most successful bloggers are always human, they have a human voice and you always know who they are, they don’t just have faceless blog. People will comment and participate with you and on your blog because of YOU, you are the most important part.

Interact - You need to interact with your readers, bloggers and others that are in your industry and market. Talk to people, ask questions, answer questions, send emails and messages, comment on blog posts, retweet your followers tweets, comment on videos, thank people for interacting with you. There are so many things you can do but just remember, do anything to know and get known by others.

Take Action – You need to take action and you need to take it now. You shouldn’t procrastinate and wait to implement or start something. I know from personal experience the importance of taking action now NOT later. Four ideas come to mind that were huge for me but while I was waiting for the perfect moment, others took the ideas and ran with them. The most valuable knowledge you get will come from actually taking action and learning from your experiences.
