Creating new content for your blog is so important. I was over visiting a blog I have been enjoying lately and to my surprise I had nothing new to read.
I’m not saying all bloggers need to have new content daily but what you should be doing is keeping some sort of consistency.
If readers and members come to expect one article a day then you better be prepared to give them what they are looking for. More articles is fine but at minimum you have to release that one article.
This is why I’m big on guest blogging lately. We are starting to develop some great traffic to our blog and I want to keep the content flowing. We have members and readers that are expecting something new and I’m not about to let any of them down.
I enjoy blogging so coming up with one article a day is fairly easy. I must admit it’s far easier then coming up with two articles a day when I was active over on my personal blog. Now I have more time to dedicate to this community blog and I will admit I enjoy it much more.
Coming up with new ideas to write about can be pretty hard when your in a targeted niche. Here on the community blog I can blog about anything I want. Coming up with new content tends to be easier when you don’t have to find new and unique things to say.
Unfortunately not all bloggers are lucky like me and have a small niche market to blog within. So for this reason I’m going to share some tips on how to generate new ideas and content for your blogs.
Generating Unique Content for your Blog
- See what others are blogging about
- Read your local news papper
- Look at what your competitors are writing about
- Start a word cloud and branch out with ideas
- Get help from guest bloggers
- Visit blog related websites and search within your category for ideas
- Visit your favorite blog forum and see what the latest discussions are about
I know it’s frustrating but don’t give up guys. Go back to your blog and start thinking aloud. Write ideas on paper and see what you can come up with. Whatever you do, don’t give up on yourself with time and effort I’m sure you will succeed.
Make a comment bellow with your thoughts and I’ll be sure to post a reply.

I thought about converting my personal blog to one focused on the arts, but there is such freedom in writing about whatever I want. And since I’m not in a niche or trying to make money, the pressure and expectation is far less then what others have to deal with. Maybe if and when I get more dedicated to my own art my blog with change also, but we shall see.

I think you made the right decision Suzanne. Wait until you have enough content and then start going niche! I will never go back to another niche blog I already have the one and that is enough for me.
I’m lucky in the fact that I’m a parent blogger. Someone in this house does something every day I can blog about. Not all bloggers will find it fun, but my own readers enjoy it.
Great article as always.

Hi Heather thanks for the comment. Your niche is pretty good then especially because your living the life. I guess when you live what you write it’s easier to write great content. That’s actually a good point to. if you blog about something you do daily in your life such as parenting or career wise you will always have something to talk about.

Another way to get content ideas is to subscribe to webwire or prwire. They are press release lines. There’s no better way to talk about hot topics than to address them on your blog first! This is especially good for businesses in competitive markets.

That’s actually a great idea Tia. I’m going to check it out because I always like having news first. Even thought I don’t blog about news it inspires me to write about something else. I’ve never heard of these website to date. Thanks for the information.

Hope you’re not referring to mine. I know I’m guilty beyond any doubt….
Just that it isn’t high on my priority at the moment. Not when I’m handling a portfolio of more than 100 sites. In retrospect, I kinda miss writing about blogging….

Getting idea for writing new article is one of the big headache for blogger like us. If we make our blog niche based then it is somehow good, because we need not go out of our topic. But the other blogs which are not niche based have to think wide to write article.

It’s hard for me who runs two blogs to keep updating both blogs content! somehow i regret having subdomain as a blog especially this subdomain is more popular than my new main blog. But this doesn’t stop me, i have learnt, and move on.
