If John chow can do it… so can you! I thought that would be a great way to open the topic. lol to anyone who gets it. Well on with the show. John Chow sells his tweets and makes money from doing so. John states clearly he sold a sponsored tweet for 1000 dollars. A commenter later stated, “Nice to see that your 140 characters are giving you that much money. That means of value of one character is $71.43″.

Let’s face it if there’s one thing we have learned is everything online for the right price is for sale. John’s not the only one selling tweets. An entire online social marketing industry is being created from this simple idea. Billions of dollars are being spent and thousands are creating revenues.

Personally I’m not into selling my tweets. I think it’s wrong and I really don’t have the right amount of followers to be doing such a thing. If I had 50,000 followers and someone asked me to tweet something for 1000 dollars I would do it without thinning twice.

The questions remains… Would you sell your tweets if asked? Have you considered it another possible way to generate more online revenues? Let’s hear some feedback let me know your thoughts.

For $1,000 smackers, I’m with you, I won’t think twice. Obviously there if a fine line when selling Tweets and that should remain as being something that I would normally Tweet. I won’t link to a SPAM or dubious site. That’s my take

What i feel is , Johnchow is having 50k followers and all his followers are marketers, big promoters and bloggers who keeps on re tweeting his tweets.
If i have such followers i will definitely sell my tweets :) :) and in fact i would myself open a company for ad agency and hire twitters like johnchow, problogger….etc
    What do you think??

Sunny Bhasin it seems you have the same opinion as all of us. Once the twitter followers is high enough it would be worth the efforts to sell our tweets. I would also make sure it’s something I liked our was reputable.

You seem to think it’s wrong to sell your tweets, but at the same breath you concede you might give sponsored tweets a shot if you’ve 50k followers like John Chow. That’s odd, don’t you think?

It’s been said that several years ago there was much controversy about putting ads in blogs. Today all forms of monetization adorn the general run of blogs. It’s been accepted practice. The ever-increasing entrants of new bloggers can even be attributed to the prospect of making money on blogs.

The answer perhaps lies in maintaining balance. If I get value reading the tweets of someone on Twitter I’d not take it against him if every now and then his timeline contains ads – as long he does not spam me and the ads he chooses are relevant to my needs as a follower.

Jan Geronimo I didn’t say it was wrong… perhaps you should read the article again. I said I wouldn’t personally do it at this point but if I got 50,000 followers I most likely would. Either way I think you have a valid point. The same questions back in the day could had been said about ads on blogs. here we are today and blogs are made up of ads. We live in a world with change and I’m willing to adapt. Sorry for any confusion but I would never say no to money.

I’m not a fan of John Chow. I don’t see him as a genuine person…I see him as a blogger who’s all about money. Back to the question, yes I will also sell my tweets as long as it doesn’t go against my beliefs or characer.

Selling tweets is brilliant if you are doing it for the right reason the online marketing community is going crazy but would i sell my tweet for $1000 bucks i would again as Ditesco said if it is clean and not deformatary after all the hosting bills need paying
