is a Video Painting by Bill Millett synced with a music piece called Korridor by Plastikman, slowly subtly blending fading morphing chroma stripes into a melding fusion.
Bill Millett’s media art work is from his Fragmented Series of digital works that “aims to capture (the) twilight zone between cognitive recognition and abstraction, via the fragmentation of light and color.”
So is Ephemeral Panacea really a video painting though ? “My aim is to take the camera out of its normal context and utilize it as a canvas, on which I paint with light.”, hey and I thought a canvas is a synonym for surface ? Surely he’s using the camera as one would use brush ?

Video paintings and or video painters are few and far between, but really there is one really quite famous one, namely Brian Eno, who makes subtly slow fading slide shows and makes no claim to be imitating the will and or process of a canvas painter. Eno refers to his video paintings as part of his generative art process.
Video painters look to have it all over canvas painters in particular just how many canvas artworks in the world today come with an embedded soundtrack ?
Although Ephemeral Panacea comprises sensually jiggling picture frames and illuminated meditations of sliding slicing blurred out imagery it is albeit a mesmerizing experience that I’m particularly fond of.

Thanks pcd2k, Ephemeral Panacea would look great on a large scale like that church in Redfern where the Bill Viola work screened last year. Jess McNeil is also making beautiful, contemplative electronic paintings – her work can be seen at GBK in Waterloo. Nick
Ah huh, I was mighty impressed by Joan Ross’s, time lapse animation video of Newcastle Harbor, “When I grow up I want to be a forger” 6 mins but because I was so physically spent I couldn’t hang around any more than 2 views.
Danks Studios rocked, cheers Nick
