Seeing the majority of my readers are bloggers I wanted to touch base today and discuss the most important tools to have as a blogger in today’s competitive blogging environment. This list will be a compilation of websites, plug ins and other unique things I personally think are important to have as a blogger leading into 2010.
Lets face the truth about blogging and marketing. We need to take advantage of all the tools available for us as bloggers. I’m a huge fan of social networking and communication so anything I can use to help market or promote my blog I take advantage of immediately.
Social Networking – In this segment I will list the useful promotional tools all bloggers should be taking advantage of. The first I would like to discuss is the sexybookmarks plugin. This plugin is simply amazing and allows your visitors to submit your content to multiple social networks. The plugin is clean, sexy and very customizable.
Marketing and promotion isn’t simply accomplished by adding sexybookmarks.I also suggest you ad tweetmeme. This tool allows your visitors to re tweet the article they are visiting on your site. This usually builds a ripple affect and ends up generating tons and tons of blog traffic.
Another great platform to use and tank advantage of twitter is named Twitterremote. This is a great and fun application that allows you to see who the last website visitors were assuming they were logged in via twitterremote. This also allows you to easily send out a tweet saying your currently visiting the site letting the blogger know and it also counts as a tweetmeme re tweet.
Entrecard is also another platform you might be interested in using. This offers all bloggers a unique marketing and promotional opportunity. Personally I don’t use it. Yes you see it on my blog but I actually don’t use the service all that much. I will drop a card here and there if I’m logged in. I allow for bloggers to advertise on it but the main goal for me is to attract new bloggers to my community.
As we move on from the marketing and promotional tools I would like to focus in on what plugins would help you as a bloggers and work similar to a blogging tool. I know many people have mention this but some bloggers out there still don’t’ use it so it’s worth mentioning in my opinion. The All in One SEO pack for wordpress. This plugin allows you to set specific keywords, meta tags and topic title descriptions to gain search engine traffic.
Google Webmaster tool and Google Analytic’s is a must for every blogger. If your paying to track your stats stop today. Simply join up to Google and from there you will have both the webmaster option and analytic tools. This gives you website stats that will help you monetize your blog and determine what your next steps should be regarding marketing, advertising or promotional work.
