Blog Engage $650 USD Guest Blogging Qualifying Article
Complacency is nothing but self-satisfaction especially when accompanied by unawareness of actual dangers or deficiencies. Can it become a hurdle in the path of your blog’s furtherance? Let’s find out.
While complacency is a relative term as far as our blogs are concerned, it still has the same effects on each of us when we experience it. Amateur bloggers commence blogging keeping a certain goal in mind (if you don’t, you’re leading nowhere). They pick up a favourable and appropriate niche, write quality articles, build up a network and drive in great traffic and there comes a time when that goal is achieved. But should it mark an end of their efforts? Nope, the actual journey begins right then.
Once the initial target has been met, most of the bloggers tend to relax and take the short term success for granted. The frequency of good articles goes down, they stop participating in blogging discussions and expect the traffic to automatically flow in relying too much on SEO. But, do you really think your readers will continue to read your blog if they have noting new to enjoy about? They certainly won’t. Gradually you see the traffic count dropping below, decrease in comments and sales too. Thus, below are some points to follow to overcome this state of liberalization.
- Set new goals The initial race you ran with your blog was only the first lap in a relay. You needed to establish its presence in the blogosphere. Once you manage to get pass a certain targeted amount of success, you’ll have to change your strategy and process out new goals and start persevering towards your new destination. Remember, you’ll never get a million visitors over night. It’s a gradual process which takes time but reaps sweet fruit. A step by step set and achieve approach will help your blog build up on a strong foundation.
- Redesign your blog This might be an ignored point yet an essential one. Surprise your visitors with a completely new design and they’ll feel the need to explore away more. It’s not so difficult to redesign one’s blog now-a-days. You have plethora of themes and templates available out there customizing which you can revamp you blog’s appearance within no time. People like change so give them one. Agreed, it’s not a frequent process to be carried out but a make up once in a while will boost your blog’s personality.
- Step into deeper waters
While I was pursuing my engineering, I remember having studied engg mathematics part 1, 2, 3 and 4. The problems and examples got tougher and challenging progressively with each level. While it was difficult to adapt at first, it was fun and mind testing to practice later on. The same principle applies in blogging too. Once you’ve mastered the basics in your niche, take a step further and learn it’s advanced techniques. As mentioned earlier, you’ll find it hard to learn new things but it’s definitely gonna be fun which will also prove to be a new learning experience. - Engage with your readers If you respond to each and every comment of your readers and communicate with them regularly, skip this point but if you don’t start engaging with your readers. Set up a poll or a duel and ask them to participate, write a review and ask them their opinions or you can even host a giveaway to keep them attached with your blog. They might queries or difficulties and even would have written them in comments while your job is to solve them and make them feel at home. Neither will you feel bored nor will you lose out traffic.
- Improvement is always necessary No matter how hard one tries, they can never be perfect. There’s always a need of extra efforts to be put into to rectify your mistakes and further mature as a blogger. Don’t be shy or embarrassed to take help from pro bloggers from your niche and ask them for improvements. They’ll be glad to help you out and take your blog to the “next level”. It’s not that once you attain victory over foregone bloopers, you won’t commit new ones in future but you’ll be prepared to handle them more effectively than ever.
Conclusion: Whether you’re a noob or a pro, you’ll be always expected to develop and mature as a better blogger. If you’re coined down by a short span of success, you’ll never be able to rise higher and achieve more. Therefore, complacency can try to hinder your blog’s progress if you don’t try to overcome it with the above mentioned points. Theorem proved

Generally saying, you should take care about your blog every day, providing your readers with something new and updated. And of course, it’s very important to have communication with your readers and visitors

Engaging with your readers is a great point. People often forget the “social” in social media and blogs. The dialogues that develop in the comments section can be very useful and often lead to great future blog posts and return readers.

Nimsrules, please tell me that you are not letting complacency hinder your contesting progress.
I agree with all the points you raised here, but would caution bloggers against too drastic or frequent blog redesigns. I try to give mine a bit of a facelift every year or two, and I try to make sure it reflects “me” at the time. But if you drastically change the design and navigation, regulars will be LOST. They may hate it. Tread lightly on this one, and maybe run an acceptance test with them for a few weeks before committing to a completely new design.

Haha, I need you to be assured that I’m not gonna let that hamper my work. I don’t disagree with your point of not redesigning your blog too often which is why I’ve mentioned it in my article too that it should not be a frequent process. Thanks for stopping by.

Great tips and advice Nimsrules. I believe for business, your blog site is the hub and such an important piece to letting your visitors, audience and potential customers know exactly who you are and how they will benefit. So your advice about improving your site is a sound one.
I do agree with Holly above about improving or changing your design. Too many business owners and entrepreneurs will use ‘site design’ as an excuse as to why they are not seeing success. Keep the design simple and focus more on the content and the purpose, which will provide much more success for both the business owner and most importantly, the customer!
