It’s really an easy question…. but making it happen, not so much.

Becoming an online success has many elements but the most important one is what you personally consider to be success. I have asked myself this many times and I’ve found the overall idea of success can change very fast. With the changes one thing remains consistent, I want freedom to do what I want, when I want within reasonable means.

For the most part, I knew I didn’t want to work a 9-5 job, in fact I didn’t want to work a job at all. I did however, I worked for several years and hated mostly every minute of it. I worked in Marketing, Sales, Retail and in some restaurants as a cook. One thing consistent about all these jobs, you’re working to make someone else money…

I wanted to be the guy making money.

In order to be the guy making the money, you need to learn a few skills and at times, in fact most the time, they are NOT easy. Many struggles will come with owning your own business and earning your own income. Still to this day I struggle to maintain growth but I work hard and make it happen.

Commitment

You have to be committed to your product or service, customer and business plan. You have to be willing to do what is needed to ensure you do NOT become a failure, no matter what! This means working long hours, many days in a row, including weekends and into late evenings.

Persistence

You must have the ability, the strength to continue moving forward in your business plan. If you see failure in the future, you must not give up, you must push forward and come up with innovative ways that make you not fail, but succeed. When people tell you it won’t work, when you get your first upset customer or have your first pissed of prospect, you must maintain your persistence and get back on that horse!

Do you have these two elements? Can you be innovative, hardworking and committed? If so, perhaps you can create your own online products or service and make a success from it. I’m still working on making my online business a success but it takes time, a lot of time. Imagine I started Blog Engage back in Nov or 2007, and we are now 8 years old.

When I first started, many people told me I couldn’t either, but I proved I can, can you?
