Many bloggers don’t take load times, blog speed and functionality into consideration when determining what their blog needs. Did you know you could be holding the growth of your blog back by not self hosting your website?

There are many reason to why a bloggers should look at self hosted opportunities lets take a look at a few of them. Remember this can apply to you if you are using blogger or wordpress. Don’t allow your host to hold back your blogging growth.

1. Website loads slow
2. Website images take for ever to load
3. Sidebar holds up the load time of your blog
4. Your visitors aren’t leaving comments
5. Your complaints list continues to grow larger
6. Your blog is lagging here and there
7. Your visitors are getting page not found
8. Getting 404 errors when trying to visit your website
9. No one returns after their first visit to your blog
10. Your server says you’re out of resources.

Now you’re probably asking yourself the following questions, if I’m not happy what are my choices. I have four suggestions for you.

Godaddy - I use godaddy here on blogengage and recommend it seeing I’m a customer and their service is just amazing.

Host gator – I heard a lot of positive reviews regarding hostgator make sure to let me know how it works out if you decide to use them.

HostICan – is a competitive hosting company equal to hostgator and godaddy.

SuperGreenHosting – This Company is very competitive and has a great price for month hosting and is definitely worth checking out.

I have been visiting a lot of blogs lately and was surprised how plain or simple some were and thought it would be beneficial to suggest ideals on how bloggers can spice up and improve the quality of their blogging website.

Anything that helps keep your readers longer is beneficial. Today we will cover add-ons, themes, and plug-ins that will retain visitors and also help you become better blogger in the long run. There’s many things you can do personally to help with writing but today it’s all about the look and appearance for your visitors.

Your current template or theme

How old is your template now?

Have your reader been seeing the same one for more then a year?

Perhaps it’s time to consider changing into a new look and feel.

Visitor appreciation

Show your visitors that you appreciate then commenting and visiting your blog. Add any widget that will say thank you and help them promote their blog. I would suggest one of the following plug-ins.

Comment Luv

My Top Commentators Widget

What about your pictures!

I find this is one of the most annoying things a blogger can do. I hate clicking images only to find I was sent to the image url. Come on my blogging friends lets make this look nice for the visitors.

When I click an image I want a nice java script pop up (on page) that’s easy to navigate and doesn’t send me to an image page with no back button. I personally use the following plug-in, Shutter Reloaded. It’s brilliant and a must use for all bloggers preparing to show images in blog posts.

Shutter Reloaded

Well I hope this helps you guys some what! I know it’s made my blog way better.

I couldn’t blog without them!

Cheers,

Brian
