Who says being a bad blogger can’t be a good thing? If you’d ever met The Bad Blogger, you’d know that it can be a very good thing. The Bad Blogger is a site that shares information on blogging, marketing, and much more. This is NOT your typical information based blog. The Bad Blogger uses the oldest trick in the book when it comes to promoting the site, BEAUTIFUL WOMEN. You’ll discover posts on how to find images to use on your site or how to create enticing headlines that will spark a conversation. The one thing you won’t find on the site is the same old stuff that can be found everywhere else you go. You will find new takes on old ideas, as well as topics you may not have considered before.

The best part about this site is the way the site as a whole is put together. The posts are created to be both informative and easy to follow, and there are no real in-your-face ads on the site. They’re all found on the sidebar, giving the entire site a very clean and well-maintained appearance. And now that The Bad Blogger has a new site design, it’s even nicer to stop by and visit.

If you’re looking for tips and tricks regarding Internet marketing, blogging and copywriting, then The Bad Blogger is where you need to be. They offer free advice on everything that has to do with blogging, while at the same time providing you with techniques you didn’t even know existed. One of the hottest topics out there right now is the Go Green niche. In an effort to find ways to help save the planet, people all over are working hard to do their part. And for some, that entails creating blogs around this niche market. What’s more is that it’s a pretty descent money maker too. The thing to remember is that it’s also fairly competitive so finding a sub-topic or two to focus on might be a good idea.

The easiest way to get started in the Go Green niche market is to ask yourself what you’d like to see done in this world. From there, it’s a matter of doing a little research. There are a lot of ways we can all go green and each one can be turned into a topic on its own. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Recycling and Upcycling
Most people will understand the concept of recycling, but many will wonder what upcycling is all about. It’s a new hot trend happening in the interior design world and it’s helping to keep a lot of reusable items out of our landfills. Upcycling is simply taking something old and turning it into something new. For example, you find an old lamp at a garage sale but it’s broke. However, it would make a gorgeous wall accent in your bedroom. You do a few minor adjustments and voila, you’ve just upcycled that lamp into something new. Television shows such as American Pickers and Picker Sisters are bringing this idea to the forefront of the Go Green movement and it could potentially be a huge money maker in blog form.

Alternative Energies
This one’s kind of a “duh” category, but it could be a huge niche field. This isn’t just an American ideal, it’s a worldwide need. And when we come up with new ideas on how to conserve engery and find new methods of keeping ourselves going, we’ve helped do our part to save the world. And by blogging about those ideas, we’re not only getting in on a hot topic, we’re working toward being part of the solution.

Conservation Techniques
Conservation is a huge issue for the Go Green niche. Yet most people think about this in terms of conserving energy, conserving oil deposits, or conserving our wetlands. Go a different route here and think smaller. I know we’re supposed to think big, but this might be one of those times to tone it down a bit. How can we conserve around the home? The office? At school? What can we conserve to do our part without having to think in such enormous terms? Scale it down and think of the individual person rather than the entire community.

Natural Alternatives
We’ve become a society that thrives on chemicals and man-made everything. One of the big things in the Go Green niche is finding natural alternatives to our daily needs. For instance, using natural remedies for minor ailments instead of popping a bunch of pills. Or canning our own foods instead of spending a ton of money on pre-canned items. Making our own baby food, making our own soaps and candles. Creating a niche around becoming more self-sufficient and implementing natural alternatives into our daily lives will bring in a wide range of people, including the mommy bloggers, naturalists, herbalists, and people who want to get back to the simpler side of life.

The Go Green niche is a very hot topic these days and it’s only going to get better. And by getting into this as a niche, it’s a two-fold situation. Not only will you be able to work it into a profitable niche market, you’ll be doing your part to save our planet.

When I first started writing online, the idea of reading an e-book was still in its infancy. At that time, they were nothing more than fancy reports. And the idea of a work of fiction was still unknown. They were all non-fiction works that had something to do with either ways of making money online or how to start a website (which was still being done old school).

Today’s online publishing industry is light years ahead of the days of simple PDF reports and information packed e-books. Thanks to companies such as Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble, we are now in the age of the full-fledged electronic publications. So how do we turn this into an online niche? By dissecting the industry as a whole and focusing on the individual sections.

Non-Fiction

It was what put the e-book on the map. And the informational piece is still as popular as it was 10+ years ago. The difference is the way they’re put together. Though there are a lot of people out there who want to write a great e-book, they either don’t know how to get started or they try and fail. Where should they start? Where can they find the best information? This is the type of stuff that almost everyone in the industry wants to know.

Fiction

There was a time when die-hard fiction fans swore they’d never read their books in paperless form. But thanks to the influx of gadgets such as the Kindle and the Nook, those same fans are reading more than ever before. This section alone could be turned into a niche all on its own. Now that they’re so easy to obtain, everyone who ever dreamed of writing that next great novel can do so and have it in the hands of thousands of readers without the worry of having it rejected by all the major publishing houses.

Publishers

Because of the number of fiction e-books coming out each year, there has been a huge surge of online publishers making their mark on the world. Some are as rigid as the mainstream publishers, while others will publish almost anything just to have a catalog of manuscripts for the public to buy from. Some work only in specific genre, while others will publish works of fiction of just about any genre.

Promotions

The one thing that still holds true with e-books and physical publications alike is marketing and promotions. Even with an e-book, you can’t sell anything if the public doesn’t know it exists. However, unlike the traditional methods, promoting an e-book doesn’t have to cost a small fortune. There are hundreds of cheap/free ways of promoting a book online. Many authors create entire websites dedicated to each title. Other ways include hosting Virtual Blog Tours and holding giveaways on various giveaway sites. How many other ways can you think of to promote a book?

The online publishing niche is hot right now. And with all the different publishers coming online and gadgets being created to read e-books, it’s only going to get hotter. It’s a very broad spectrum that has unlimited potential. What else can you think of that would work for this niche?

As a way to bring an end to a busy week here at Blog Engage, I’ve a little something to help keep everyone thinking over the weekend. I bring to you the Blogger’s Challenge. Unlike the BlogEngage $1000 Blogging Contest which I highly encourage everyone to get in on, this is just a friendly little challenge to do at your leisure on your own blog.

The rules are pretty simple, but we have to have them in order to make this an authentic challenge. So here we go:

#1-All posts must be original content—no using something you wrote a month ago.
#2-Posts must be at least 350 words, just to make it a little more interesting
#3- Post must be done on your own site, but leave a link in the comments section of the challenge post so we know where to find you.
#4-Must make mention of the Blog Engage site and link back to us

There’s no money to win for this, just the knowledge that you did your best and created something out of nothing. However, if this goes over well, there might be a little button or something to post on your site or the post that says you rocked the Blog Engage Bloggers Challenge. You never know we’ll come up with to tell the world about your totally awesome post.

Our first challenge topic is:

Uncommon Ways To Monetize Your Blog

We all know about the traditional ways of making money. Adsense is probably #1 across the board, followed by things such as Kontera links and 125×125 ad boxes. But what else is out there that is worth the time and effort it takes to make it work. Have you found something that you’d be willing to share? Work all the angles and give us something that’s new or not seen very often. Think not just outside the box, but outside the sphere too; the blogosphere. Remember, you’re not just writing this for me and a few folks here at Blog Engage. This is something your readers and future traffic will see and will be picked up by the search engines. So wow them all and make me want to read more.

Since this is the first post of its kind, let me explain what this is all about. My goal is to show you how you can take an ordinary topic and turn it into a niche site. I’ll give you some ideas to turn into blog posts or into full categories for the blog. You might even take a few of the sub-topics and use them as a completely different site. In essence, I want to show you that any topic can be turned into a profit-making site, if it’s done right. It won’t be easy, it will take some work and a little effort, but it can be done.

The one thing I’ve learned about blogging over the past 4+ years is that everyone’s trying to be the biggest name in their chosen niche. The problem with this is that most of those people want to be the top dog in the Make Money Online niche. This is probably the toughest niche to break into because of the fact that there are so many people already in it and more keep jumping in every day. That’s why I decided to do this series on finding lucrative niches topics that have nothing to do with the MMO category.

Now, keep in mind we’re still going to be talking about making money, just not about making it the theme behind our topics. We still want to make money, but we want to do it by becoming an authority in a totally different category. Our very first topic is going to be:

I’m sure the first thing that went through your head on this was, “I thought you said we weren’t going to talk about the MMO community”. I’m not. This isn’t about you selling stuff online, it’s about you talking about ways to sell stuff online. Here are some of the options you might consider.

The Various Venues

There are a lot of places out there where a person might sell their things. For someone wanting to provide information about this topic, the storefront options would be a good place to start. This could be simply part of a bigger blog topic or the focus of the niche itself. You might review any and/or all the different sites, offer news pieces on the industry as a whole, or simply showcase various deals per site.

Free VS. Paid

Some online stores allow users to open their own shops for free. Other require a monthly premium to have their store open to the public, or to upload more than just a few items. This is a big issue with a lot of the people in this industry so you might offer some insight by discussing both sides of this story. Let the readers make up their own minds, but give them plenty to think about in order to do so.

Advertising Options

Though there are a lot of professionals using this venue to sell their own products, most people are looking to sell stuff online in order to make ends meet at home. And because of this, advertising can be a big deal to them. A lot of these people either can’t afford an advertising budget, or they simply don’t know where to turn. With the right information, this topic alone could be huge in the online sales market.

Finding Products

When the online selling boom first hit, it was more about getting rid of stuff in your basement than starting an online business. Now, however, it’s more about selling brand new items or products. So where do these products come from? There are a lot of drop shipping companies popping up online. Most of these are membership oriented, meaning their clients pay a monthly fee to gain access to the company’s catalog. From there, they resell the items from their own stores for a profit. This could be an idea for a series of posts. Other ideas might be in creating your own products to sell online.

These are only a few of the ideas that could be used in the Online Stores/Selling Online niche. There are as many ideas as there are people to dream them up. How many more can you come up with that could take this idea to the next level?

Bogging is probably the easiest and one of the most common activities online. Everyone are sharing loads of information in their blog. Even big companies utilize this increasingly popular web platform for marketing and advertising their own products. So do you want to make money from your blog? If you say Yes, let me tell you one thing – you’re not alone. More and more blogger are finding that blogging is a profitable medium.

In order to make money with your blog, you need to be organized and follow the formula that works for everyone. In spite of proven results over time, individuals still have a difficult time making a go of their blogs in the revenue department. The reason for this is that frustration builds quite easily among those without a plan before they actually start their blogs. When they do not see immediate results and are not even sure what they should be blogging about, it is too easy to give up and move on to the next idea, which also fails when not hashed out correctly. Avoid the headaches and instead follow this formula for success:

Improve the content and the functionality of your blog

Each day try to improve the content and the functionality of your blog. That means making sure each of your posts is search engine optimized and that you have catchy headlines that readers and the search engines will love. Take one positive step in any area that you can think of. Sign up for services that rank your site as soon as they are “pinged”. Pings happen with each update that you make to the blogs content. The more of them that you have, the higher your rating will be, and the more likely that you will be noticed by organic traffic.

Plan your content

Plan your content well ahead of time. The only way to really have good content is to follow a clear plan for it. Your blog should follow a niche market. It should not be a random scrabbling of thoughts, diary style, depending on how you feel that day. People come to blogs because they have special interests that they feel compelled to pursue. By appealing to the reasons that an audience would visit day in and day out, you are bettering your chances of getting added to their blog-rolls. In addition to this, if you do not plan ahead, it is too easy to run out of ideas and feel overwhelmed by the constant attention that a blog needs to be successful.

Get advertisements using your traffic growth

Once your audience and content is in place, you can start using your traffic growth to charge for outside advertising. While free pay-per-click advertising may work for some, you ideally want to attract sponsors willing to give money to your cause on a monthly basis, simply because advertising to your audience is beneficial to them. In addition to this, your audience themselves can be a source of income for you. Have a product or service to sell, or at least make your content so compelling that they will wish to donate with regularity.

Following this formula ensures that you will be ahead of the game and well on your way to making money. Remember one thing -

Where there is a Will, there is a Way.

Official June 2011 Monthly Guest Blogging Contest Post #7
Contest Article

Some people like to read or take naps in their spare time. I like to think about ways to make money. Sketching out new inventions, writing songs & children’s books, learning how to make wine and scotch, figuring out how to get a small business loan… these are things I do when there is nothing good on TV.

… with is almost always.

My start in online money making was completely unintentional. I was messing around on Facebook one day when a friend of mine posted a link to his home-based business. I had never heard of MLM before, so when I clicked on the link and started to watch the presentation, the concept really hit home.

My entrepreneurial gears were turning, and I could really see myself succeeding in the opportunity. Here comes a slightly shameless plug…

The company was Worldventures. For those of you who don’t know, Worldventures is a travel club that offers ridiculously low prices on dream vacations while rewarding customers with incentives for sharing the idea with other people…. blah blah blah…

I’m not here to pitch Worldventures, but the compensation program is pretty sweet. As I watched the presentation, I could definitely see myself cashing a nice check every month from the residual income that I could generate if I recruited enough prospects…

… so within 48 hours I was onboard with the company.

Something I thought would be easy turned out to be a bit of a challenge. My friend had ZERO experience in MLM, as did the guys that recruited him. I had no real leadership to lean on as I was trying to grow my business, and I was forced to do things the hard way: All by myself.

The next few months after I joined the company were fueled by my desire to learn the tricks of the trade when it came to building a downline. Of course I read Mike Dillard’s courses and everything else I could get my hands on that even mentioned MLM recruiting tactics. As I researched, I began to become even more fascinated with the idea of making money online and leveraging the power of the internet to achieve success with my travel business…

… but more excited about learning how to make money online using internet marketing.

Next thing I knew I was reading about list building and traffic generation and SEO and lead capture pages and advertising and forums and blogging and affiliate marketing and article marketing and video marketing and MY HEAD NEARLY EXPLODED!!!

I had joined practically every list that I could so that I could observe and study what the “gurus” were all doing. It was pretty amusing, actually. The gurus were making money off the people who had no idea what they were doing (like me), and the less famous marketers were making money off the people who were fed up with the gurus by pitching products and secrets “that the gurus didn’t want you to know.”

Then it hit me: these guys are making tons of money with products, services, and information that are designed to help demystify and simplify the online money making process!

…something else that occurred to me was that no matter what you read – no matter what software you have – no matter how great your website is — it all comes down to hard work. There is no such thing as easy.

You have to be dedicated. You have to have a good attitude and work ethic. There is always something new that you can learn to improve your chances of gaining new prospects and making more sales.

So yeah – when it comes to learning how to make money online, it is very easy to drown in a sea of information. The best way to stay afloat is to stick to the basics. There really isn’t an “easy way” or “fast money.”

However if you find some good leadership and a good business opportunity – if you commit yourself to success and hard work, you will be less likely to drown in information overload.

Let’s face it, there’s no sense in creating a blog that only you are going to read. You need traffic, which in turn will turn into commentators, subscribers, which in turn will make your blog more successful.

In this post, we’ll be talking about promoting a blog and making money from it.

If you are looking to promote your blog and make money, here are 7 ways to promote your blog posts:

1. Blogging communities

Blogging communities like blokube and blogengage are great way to promote your blog and build backlinks. Many bloggers don’t use this strategy but this is one of most awesome way to get traffic and promote your blog.

  • Blokube – One of the best social community for search engine marketers and bloggers.
  • BlogEngage – Most active and Invite only, but most Famous Bloggers are members, just ask

2. Guest Posting

Do you ever do guest posting…? I see many people doing guest posting but what the reason of writing 10 guest posts a week.
If your blog is new then promote your blog with commenting and forum posting instead of writing a lot of guest posts.

Here are few blogs on which you can do guest posting -

3. Blog Commenting

One of my favorite and most effective way to get traffic, backlinks and build relationship with author of a blog. I started promoting my blog with blog commenting and have to say it is one of the most effective way to build your brand. Take the time to leave a useful comment often enough, don’t just write “great post” or “thanks”.

4. Forum Posting

Write good Articles and post your blog link as a source. It will catch the eyes of people. This strategy can really help your traffic explode because if someone from a related forum visits your blog and likes what they see, they will send people visiting their forum to your blog, thus increasing your traffic exponentially. I’m usually active on Digital Point.

5. Social Media Sites

One of the best ways to succeed on Social media is to get really involved. It is a great source of communication and the start of new friendships. It was built for genuine people who want to talk as humans and make connections. Sending people messages directly are another great way to get in touch with them on a personal level. It’s simply an incredible viral means to drive a large amount of sustainable traffic to any website over a period of time. Using it is crucial to your social marketing success. I try to submit every article to social media websites like Twitter, StumbleUpon, Digg, Reddit, Delicious.

6. SEO

Anyone who works for, or in, an online business knows how incredibly valuable SERPS positions are. Actually it is all about building nice and quality backlinks to your blog or website. In search engine optimization (SEO), page rank is at least partially determined by the number of sites that link to yours.
So, here are few ways to build high quality backlinks

  • Use Squidoo
  • Use Hub pages
  • Article marketing

Read – 20 Ways to build backlinks

7. List Building

List building is something that no blogger should miss. I see many bloggers don’t focus on building mailing list. Actually it is a great way to get traffic and make some money. Still thinking why should i start building mailing list then here are few reasons for you

  • Connect – Emails give you an opportunity to make your fans feel more closely connected with you.
  • Referrals – Put you in a position to receive regular referrals.
  • Easier – Make your sales process easier and more productive.
  • Start conversations with people you are targeting.
  • Another awesome reason is “The money is in the list”

Next step is to start making some money from your blog. Making money is not hard thing but it takes hard work and patience.

Here are 4 awesome ways to make money:

  • Banner Ads – If you have a good traffic (10000+ visits per month) then you can sell banner ads on your blog. Buysellsads is one of the great site to sell banner ads
  • Affiliate Marketing – One of the super awesome way to make money is affiliate marketing. All you have to do is writing good reviews, adding banners and utilizing the power of mailing list.
  • Selling Services - Selling your services is another great way to make money, to be honest i am making more $150 alone from wordpress services.
  • Sponsored Reviews – Writing a review might make you anything from $10 to thousands of dollars but it all depends on how big your blog is. Reviewme and sponsoredreview are few sites to get sponsored reviews.
