Blogging is a fantastic way of making an extra income online and if done correctly, blogging can change your life financially.  Before  you start to blog online, you need to identify your interest or hobby.  Never try to blog in a market that you are not familiar with this is because you will end up providing unrelated content that might not resolve problems of your readers.

Blogging is not for everybody but if you plan and execute your strategy well definitely you will be successful in the blogging industry.  In this article I will discuss some blogging tips that might help you in making money online.

Below are some tips that can help you in building your business blog.

1) Keyword Research
Doing keyword research is an effective way of identifying a profitable keyword that is really hungry for either information or service.  To be highly successful in keyword research, I would recommend that you select a high traffic keyword with less competition.  Do not go overboard when conducting keyword research.

2) Build your Blog
Once you have identified a profitable keyword, what you should do is to build your blog. When you create your, blog make sure to select the best blogging platform. In my own experience I think it’s only WordPress and Blogspot that are the best. The reason why the said blogging platforms are popular it’s because they are search engine friendly.

3) Product Selection
When you are selecting products to promote, I would encourage that you choose only three products to promote as an affiliate.  The reason why I am recommending three products it’s because it will brand you as a professional blogger within your industry.  Affiliate marketing is a big industry that you should not let it go just like that.  The best markets to find products to promote are clickbank.com, paydotcom.com, linkshare.com and commissionjunction.com

4) Blog Promotion
Blog promotion is a powerful strategy that every savvy marketers and small business owners use. Without highly quality traffic you cannot be a successful blogger within your niche.

Below are traffic generation methods that you should use when blogging online.

a. Article Marketing
Content marketing is a powerful method that you should not miss in your marketing effort.  What you should do is to write a killer article that will attract visitors.  To be successful in article marketing make sure to write a pillar content that has a minimum word count of 700 or 1000, then write three original article and submit them to blog networks with the help of an automated article distribution software or service. Below are examples of article marketing tools.

  • Submityourarticle.com
  • Uniquearticlewizard.com
  • Articleautomation.com
  • Seolinkvine.com

b. Social Media
From my own experience I really don’t like social marketing this is because it has not worked for me but from what I here it’s a very powerful strategy in gaining quality links.  The only success I had was with digg, com only.

c. Form Marketing
Marketing your blog to forums can really generate instant traffic to your site.  When you are dealing with forums make sure not to spam forums as this will destroy your repetition from your initial visitors and search engines.  To be successful, I would suggest that you sign-up with a few top forums that are related to your niche and put your signature with your keyword embedded on it.  With forums you can get 6 to 100 visitors per day. Below are two powerful forums you can use them.

  • WorriorForum.com
  • Forums.digitalpoint.com

d. Email Marketing
Email marketing is one of the life line of your blog traffic this is because to convert more sales you need to build a solid relationship with your subscriber and as the term suggest it means that you market your blog with emails.  To be successful in email marketing you need to know how to write a killer email that can convert visitors into a profitable subscriber. The best email marketing tools that you should use are:

  • Aweber.com (highly recommended)
  • Getresponse.com
  • Mailloop.com

e. Pay Per Click
If you want instant result then pay per click is the way to go.  Pay per click is when you only pay for a click from a potential visitor. The best way to be profitable with PPC is to use long tail keywords that are cheap and high in traffic volume.  The best tools that can help you generate longtail keywords are;

  • Speedppc.com
  • Keywordelite.com
  • TrafficTravis.com
  • Marketsamurai.com

Once you have the above tools the next step is to select the best PPC program and from my own experience Google Adwords is the best pay per click program. Below some tool you can use for your PPC marketing;

  • Google Adword
  • Yahoo publishing Network
  • 7 search.com
  • MSN.com
  • Miva.com

f. Media Buy
Buying an Adspace on popular blog can really bring thousands of visitors to your blog.  The best way to use media buy is to purchase Adspace on highly and related niche blogs within your market.  But when you use the media buy make sure to have a minimum of $1000 this is because you can lose or make more.  Media buy are very expensive but highly successful.

Below are programs to use when buying ads;

  • Buyandsell.com (highly recommended)
  • Adbride.com (very powerful)

From the above steps, you can see that blogging online is an income opportunity that you should take advantage of.  From what I have explained in this article i would encourage that you take them with a positive mind.  If you want to make an extra income online, then you should think of blogging for profit.

Money HandPeople begin blogging for a number of reasons. For some it is a chance to hold an online diary, or to share special events with friends. Some are keeping a log of a trip, such as in a travel blog, or of their experiences as they embark on something new. Still others are just wanting to do something they think is funny, like in the case of Lamebook or Damn You Auto Correct.

But blogging in any genre and for any purpose has led to an interesting development in recent years: it is a cash cow. Really, the profitability of blogs has skyrocketed, and many people use their own as a means of income. Either they make enough to cover the costs associated with the blog itself (which are low), or they make enough to help supplement or even provide they current livelihood.

What is truly amazing is that this isn’t hard to do with a certain amount of effort, time and work. If you really work on it and learn along the way you will eventually find some measure of success. I have worked for enough blogs myself to know that fact first hand.

But in the beginning you should start by trying to reduce some of the costs that come along with the running of a blog. Luckily there are a couple of ways that you can save money, and the first is by creating a blog under your own domain and maintaining it yourself. But that is only the beginning. Here are five easy ways that you can save money while blogging.

Cheap Or Free Photos

Save money blogging

Sites like iStockPhoto are quickly going to become your best friend. When you own a blog, no matter what kind it is, you will always going to need images to break up the text. However many you choose to use it can get expensive fast.

For the site above you can go to Rather Be Shopping and other similar discount sites to look for coupon codes. This can knock off 20% or more (don’t forget to read this very good and clear guide on how coupons work).

You can also find public domain images by using Flickr and Wikimedia Commons, but be sure to pay attention to the credit instructions before you use them.

Free Advertising

There are plenty of directories out there that can help you to put a link to your blog on it. But those can be easily lost in the crowd, especially as old school directories fall to the wayside and become obsolete. Trading links can be a good idea, or guest posting on other blogs related to your subject or genre.

You can also find promotions occasionally on MySpace MyAds and Google AdWords. If you don’t have an account with them you can open one and get $100 credit or other discounts.

Free Keyword Tools

Keywords are going to be a big part of your posts because SEO is still a major marketing tool and one of the main ways you will be able to get your blog noticed. But you don’t have to use an SEO company or even paid tools to get the same effects as you would for a few hundred bucks to a small firm. Google has the AdWords

tool, which is very easy to use and completely free. If you want to see if you are running a decent keyword density, you can use this free checker.

And here’s also a great free tool to track your keyword rankings using your Twitter account – free and fun!

Tweeted Ranks

Take Advantage Of Domain Discounts

If you are really set on making a name for your domain then you should register it for more than one year. It costs more all at once but the price is majorly discounted with most providers. When you register you can select anywhere from 2 and 5 years. This can cut it down by as much as 50%, and will keep you from having to worry about securing the domain again for quite some time.

Domain Name Discounts

There are several ways you can save on your name. First, always check for coupon codes or promotions with well known domain providers. GoDaddy is one that almost always has a coupon code on their site or a special deal for new sites or customers. But you can also save by the name or designation itself. For example, stick with something that specifically uses the name of your blog if you can, but using extra dashes or abbreviations might save you some cash. Also, going with a newer site designation like .info can really cut a lot of your cost.

Official June 2011 Monthly Guest Blogging Contest Post #12
Contest Article

Creating a blog and being a blogger means getting exposed to the blogosphere or the world of blogs and getting yourself and your blog known to the internet world, most of the time. Moreover, blogging requires a lot of hardwork and perseverance given that a constant update is needed so that your readers and subscribers, and visitors, would definitely keep coming back for more.

So in blogging, basically, when it’s being based on the number of the people who managed and keeps the blog running, we have these two types – the solo blogging and the collective blogging. Imagine how big the differences are between the two, and just how essential would it be to go sailing the open seas alone, or being with some friends with you. Well, blogging is like sailing in the open seas though, and it is also stipulated that the risks are all “unknown”. So let me give you just a few words as of the way I see solo blogging versus collective blogging.

Solo Blogging and Collective Blogging – Evaluating the Odds of It

group bloggingAlmost all of the time, going on solo flight happens when you’ve just created your blog and started blogging for the very first time. This thing happens most of the time and t’was true even for some of the most established and well-known blogs of today. It’s not bad to go blogging solo though, and the main advantage of it is that when you get recognition, you have it all for yourself. So let’s get cracking as to how one takes on a lead over the other in each own way.

Revenue Allocation

When we say blogging solo, that would typically mean that once you’ve earned your income, it would be totally yours – all yours. You won’t get to share it with others, you receive it fully and you earn more. However, not at all times do these things hold true. Why? As we all can see it, blogging requires a lot of patience and work to do before it gets a lot of exposure to the blogosphere. Various types of promotion are required just to bring it on the top of the ladder. And besides, earning income on a solo blogging mode won’t come in easy – that’s why you’ve got to be way too patient.

As of collective blogging, even though you get to share your revenues with the other staff or the people who maintains and updates your blog, it would still be worth it. What’s more is that it is much more easier to earn income and accumulate a mass of income stream through collective blogging since you’re not the only one who would do the promotion and the monetization schemes, but all of you do.

Blogger Branding

Branding yourself and getting yourself known in the world is what most bloggers aim for. Who wouldn’t want to be popular anyway? What’s more in branding is that is allows yourself to get open in a various opportunities for monetization such as ad spot placement, sponsored reviews, and a whole lot more. Blogging alone for self branding is a bit more advantageous in a solo blogging as compared to collective blogging. I’ve seen a lot of bloggers run their blogs on their own and they’ve gotten pretty popular since they’ve made a name of their own with their blog. A great example would be Darren Rowse of ProBlogger.Net. As we all can see it, this guy is a great blogger, and more than that, he’s running the blog on his own – although he accepts some various guest post from other bloggers as well. Well, we shouldn’t also forget that the man behind this contest, Brian Belfit of BlogEngage.Com is a solo blogger as well. And with solo blogging, I repeat, branding is a lot easier and a lot faster than it is.

Promotion

I think this one would be the most obvious. How could you make it easy to promote your contents when you are all by yourself? You could do it though, however it do takes a lot of time to beat the odds. You can’t have a lot of social media accounts as well as the time to promote your blog as well. And moreover, it is quite easy to accumulate a wide variety of readers and subscribers to your blog since every member or staff of your blog would be doing their promotion part also.

Ok, now you’ve read my part and my thoughts about which is much better between a solo blogging and a collective blogging. I am also on the solo blogging side, although I am accepting guest posts from others just to augment my blog and to fill the gap between. Actually, I am also in need of a reliable and trusted blogging partner to whom I would share my blog with him/her.

So Let’s Cut to the Chase

Before you get to leave a comment below, would it be okay if I hear your thoughts about it? Well, here would be some of the questions I would be asking to you then:

• How do you find solo blogging to be? Is it easy or is it rough?
• What’re your thoughts about solo blogging and collective blogging?
• Which side are you in as of now?
• Which one of them would suit you best?

Let me hear your thoughts about it, please?

I know right now you are probably thinking “what could blogging possibly have to do with Jesus?” Don’t worry I’m not preaching a religious sermon, but laying out some comparisons of the mission of Jesus and what you as a blogger should hope to accomplish in your blogging life. The bible tells us that Jesus was God in-bodied in the flesh. Even with that being the case the people of His home town couldn’t accept that. He didn’t let that stop Him however.

He ventured out to spread his message of salvation and not just to the Jews but he included everyone. At a young age he astonished the elders with his knowledge and wisdom. He had a clear understanding of His mission and used parables to explain concepts that people could not comprehend.

He took a small group of 12 Apostles and 70 disciples to spread His message to anyone who would listen. To those that wouldn’t, he just kept marching forward knowing that not everyone would want to hear what he had to say. He proved Himself worthy of His position, but never basked in the glory of success He remained humble.

He was vigilant to the end never giving up and still offering what He had as death was before Him. Today 1.5 billion people are Christians and the bible is the bestselling book of all time. Not bad for being born in a manger. The bible tells us that Jesus was the son of God; which means He really didn’t have to work as hard as He did, but He took the challenge to set the example.

Perseverance is the Key

Jesus encountered plenty of difficulties and obstacles and could have become discouraged. Some people may not except that you know what you’re doing as a blogger or even in your own niche. You cannot be discouraged by the naysayers. Jesus knew what He came to do. You must have a clear course of action. There is no room for just winging-it. Prepare a plan and never just settle for where you are currently.

Don’t be afraid to venture outside your boundaries or lock yourself in to a certain group of people. It doesn’t take 10, 50 or 100 thousand followers on Twitter or a huge following on Facebook to get your message across. It’s about the intimate relationship you establish with those few people you come to know. Make an impression on them and your message will speak for itself. Never settle for short-term success because it takes long term sacrifice to truly attain your dream.

Jesus changed the landscape forever. Your goal should be to change the landscape in your niche. You shouldn’t just want to be like someone else; you should strive for being the reason other people are doing what they do. Now the life of Jesus is much bigger and more detailed than I have described, but so is the world of blogging. Only through your perseverance, course of action,  ability to overcome obstacles and difficulties will you be able to accomplish the mission and set the example that others will want to follow.

1000 USD 2011 Best Guest Blogger Contest Article Approved

Each of us as bloggers want to write blog posts that stands out, whether you are writing it for your blog or contributing it as a guest post. Writing excellent blog posts often depends upon us the blogger/author of the blog post.

Here are some things to help you write excellent blog posts.

Researching for your new blog posts is the first thing to do before you start writing. Before I started this blog post I was reading a book on how to do research before writing. I read through the chapter and thought about what I wanted to write for 3 days. Yes, 3 days! I didn’t want to rush into writing this article because I want to make sure it was well put together.

Before you start writing you should have knowledge about your topic and have an idea of how you want your blog post to turn out. You can do research by reading and asking questions to get more information.

Before writing my new blog posts I like to search for similar posts so that I don’t write as if I am duplicating the authour of that article. After searching for articles which are similar, I try my best to read through the article so that when I am writing my main points are different and write my blog posts in a different style so that my article stands out more, and make more impact on my blog readers.

Getting search engine traffic is really great and that is the reason why optimizing your blog posts for search engine traffic is a must. I see a lot of bloggers saying that they don’t write for SEO or they are not really interested in SEO. Well I am different, I have to make sure that my articles are optimized for search engines.

I try my very best to write for SEO and at the same time write to please my readers. This has been working out because my blog readers always like my style of writing and also what I write about.

When optimizing your blog posts you have to make sure use keywords which describes your blog posts. This will give you an advantage in ranking in search engine results for that particular keyword. Another thing to do is to target a particular keyword and use it in your blog posts as much as possible. Use the keyword in your sub-headings and place them in H1, H2 and H3 tags.

When I had just became a new blogger, I used to write my blog posts and publish them without re-reading what I had written. Of course there are plugins which you can use to proof read your blog posts which checks if there are any grammatical error. But the plugin doesn’t tell you that your blog posts are well written and that your readers will benefit greatly by reading it.

You have to make sure that you read your own blog posts just like you were a visitor of your own blog. Read your blog posts and make sure that your main points stand out, make sure that your blog posts are beneficial to everyone who reads it and make sure that your blog posts encourage your readers to share the article with others.

This article was written to help you write blog posts in a much better way.

Please comment and let the Blog Engage community know; how do you go about writing new blog posts?

Official 2011 Second Guest Blogging Contest Post #17
Contest Article

Change and uncertainty are part of real life and this applies to blogging too. Blogging is awesome, thrilling and an enthusiastic hobby. But, making a career out of it is like a fairytale because blogging needs regular writing and updating with changes and variations to get regular audience, meet the requirement of readers, and adapt to the quality blogging standards. A blogger may find blogging easy in the initial stages but with time as a blogger advances to gain niche traffic, attain page rank, get good SEO rankings, he may have to face unseen or quick changes and uncertainties in the blogging environment. The one who is quick to adapt to the changes in the blogging market survives as a successful blogger.

So, do not consider blogging just to pass your time or to make new friends. Your seriousness in the blogging career is your preparedness for adaptation to changes in advance. Read below on how to be better prepared for changes.

1. Should be alert for the first signs of changes

Have your heard about the widespread boiling frog story anecdote that mentions a frog being slowly boiled alive. If temperature of water containing frog is increased fast, the frog will realize and immediately jump out. But if the temperature is increased slowly one degree at a time the frog will make no attempt to escape and will not know the danger.

Every blogger faces changes equally but the winner is who realizes it sooner. Sudden changes are dramatic and can get immediate attention but it will be too late if gradual changes are ignored. A sudden slap of a lower page rank or greater fall in the number of subscriptions or comments will alert the blogger and he will take steps accordingly. On the other hand if the blogger is not aware of the changes in the blogging environment he may be at a great loss. In the first half of 2011, Google’s algorithm change saw 12% of all search rankings change resulting in loss of rankings for some big sites and gain of rankings for some big sites.

What are your answers for below questions?

  • Were you aware of this change?
  • What happened to your blog?
  • Did your blog ranking moved up or down?
  • What steps did you take?

These are some of the questions about Google algorithm changes that a blogger can ask self and find out answers even now.

Solution: The best way to live and relive your blog is to regularly write useful and SEO quality content. But, also develop your own early warning system. Keep your eyes open to be forewarned of changes.

2. Should anticipate change even when things are going right for you

As blogger moves forward in blogging journey with continuous effort and hard work, a

level is reached when success comes in the form of traffic, rankings and money. This is a real happy time for bloggers and a feeling crosses the mind that Oh! Let me lie down and have some rest. But a blogger should not be complacent thinking that he / she has reached the hill top. He should think about future anticipating parameters of success change and not just get contented about the past successes. Who knows same techniques may not work for successful blogging all the time.

Solution: The best way for a blogger is to guard self against complacency all the time.

3. Should look for opportunities that bring about change

Positive attitude is important for blogging as facing and managing change has to do a lot with kind of attitude towards it. Changes can be in the form of opportunities like guest posting, contest participation, participation in forum discussions or giveaways.

Solution: Look forward for opportunities knocking at your door with an open mind.

4. Should not let your zones of comfort chain you

After some time of blogging bloggers reach a zone of comfort or

regular routine. Although routines are useful in structuring time and thought in a systematic way but sometimes it is good to purposely break out of them as they may obstruct changes.

Solution: To predict changes, every now and then come out of your shell and diversify your blogging.

5. Should renew yourself constantly

Be innovative. Ask yourself regularly what new skills can be developed and what competencies will be required. A blogger should be working on these before they become essential and get a natural advantage.

Blogging is dynamic and presents changes from time to time and hence is a learning process for all bloggers. These are my views regarding the changes every blogger meets in their blogging career.

This is my first guest post and I thank all for reading my post and thereafter:

  • Do you find this article useful?
  • Do you agree with my views?
  • Do you agree with the solutions I have offered?

I would appreciate readers to share their views or add more to the list of changes and their solutions. Readers are more than welcome to share this post if they liked it.

Thank you all for your support!

Official 2011 Second Guest Blogging Contest Post #16
Contest Article

Yes, you heard me right. Adolf Hitler, one among the evilest humans in this world, can teach you a lot about Blogging. Hitler was a great guy, had good skills. But, he used them in a bad way. He used them to bring ruin upon people ; because he wanted Germany to become a world power. In this post, we will talk about what Hitler can teach us [we will use them for good purposes, such as blogging]. Let’s talk about the mighty chancellor of Germany :-

Do you know why Hitler was so popular ; why we was able to gain popularity ? Most Germans didn’t even support his “massive killing of Jews” – believe it or not – they didn’t even know about it. But, they did support him. Why did Hitler become so popular, all of a sudden ? Is it because he supported Nazi party ? No. It’s because,

He was an Excellent Public Speaker

Hitler was so popular because he was able to convince people. He was a great public speaker. Adolf Hitler is still regarded as one among the greatest speaker (but this quality of his is not spoken about much due to the decisions he made). He was able to convince German Public. He was able to convince that Germany could be a World Power. He used the words. To a blogger, this is a great lesson.

Point #1 : Have a dictionary and thesaurus for reference

Take that old dictionary/thesaurus that is somewhere in your house. Find it (or you could use an online one). Keep it. Now, let’s talk about how we can use this to come up with excellent titles. Follow these steps when you write a title :-

  • Write a draft title

Write a draft title. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Just come up with one that works out best with your idea/content.

  • Take the dictionary/thesaurus, Use it for reference !

Now, take the dictionary/thesaurus to come up with new title. Use words that can be substituted in for your title. After you have done that, you could do some keyword research [ to improve your ranking]. You could substitute in words and see how that works out, you could improve your ranking tremendously by changing a single word. That’s how powerful words can be.

You could also use dictionary for your body. You could use it to find better keywords. Just by having it by your side [I mean, you will have to use it :D ], you are also reducing any chances of grammatical/spelling mistakes. Hitler was very clever in the usage of words. He use many adjectives and decorative words to make this sentences meaningful – to describe, I would rather choose an example – You know the times when you hear someone speak and his/her argument is so great that you look at him and think, “Wow, this guy/gal is great !”. Same thing with Hitler.

Point #2 : Individual speaking, Call to Action and I want YOU !

You know what historians say ? Hitler’s eyes had mysterious power over people. Of course, they weren’t describing “his eyes”. Rather, they were talking about his influence on teach person ; there is weird feeling (how can I describe it ?). For instance, you know when other people speak to you [in stage/public] in person, you will trust them more (it is a matter of trust). Now, let’s come back to blogging : Does your visitor have a feeling that you are talking to him, in person [through your post] ?

As bloggers, we need to work [heavily] on “talking” to each visitor. Your post should seem like you are talking to each one of them. This will have a greater impact on the reader. For example, you have better chances of getting a comment, a share or even a subscriber. Try to address your visitor individually. Write a different style of post with the “address”, see how it works out. Is it working ? Btw, you might have to try it out for 2-3 posts, because there are other factors involved : the quality and exposure of the post are a few.

Call to Action is another amazing tool that you can use. Hitler used this technique widely. He tried to convince the German public of his plan to conquer the world. And he was successful in it, for the most part. For your post, include Call to Actions (Ask for comments etc.). Asking for commenting is the most commonly used Call to Action in Blogging. Its just like saying “I want you to Join the Army” – “I want you to comment on this post ! ” :D

He was Motivational and Inspirational

Yup. He sure was. His motivational speech surely convinced many people to join the German army and fight for the cause. He was also inspirational. You know, even the allies had admired his ability to convince people to do something. To be a successful blogger, you need to be motivational and inspirational. You need to be able to inspire other bloggers to act, to follow your strategies. It’s not that simple, it’s not that complex either. He was also a great leader. He was able to educate his followers. He was able to motivate them to act. That’s where Hitler began his “successful career” began (although he didn’t achieve his goal, which is a good thing, considering that he order the murder of millions).

Self Belief – Confidence

This is the last thing I want to talk about. Hitler was confident. He was confident because he believed in this abilities (true, he believed in them because he thought that he was sent by God to conquer Germany). Well, in blogger you need to believe in your talents, what you can do. Never underestimate your ability. You never know when they can produce great results. When you have confidence in your abilities, you will be able to achieve more. But, be careful : Don’t ever be “over” confident. You need to have beliefs about your talents, but don’t think that you can always do the best, by not giving in much efforts. Remember : there is always someone better than you.

Conclusion

That’s all the lessons Hitler can teach you, at least for now. Anyway, I want your opinion about this. What do you think ? Was it worth reading this post ? Did you learn something new ? Was Hitler a great blogger ? :D You can help me out by commenting on/sharing this post. Thank you for reading !

I want you to Let me know of your opinion ! Thanks !
