Blog Engage Friend Notifications

I know many of our members will be excited with regards to today’s announcement. We have successfully implemented an e-mail notification for all users that add you to their friends list.

This means when someone ads you as a friend you will be notified and linked to their profile. If you add someone as a friend they will be notified and linked to your profile.

I know many members have been requesting this change and I’m happy to announce it’s now available and implemented already. So far from my testing with a few members online in chat it seems to be working perfectly.

Unfortunately this will only work with newly added friends, in order to have old friends be notified you will have to unfriend them and add them back. For now this is the only way for old friends to get new friend notifications.

To remove your current friends simply look in the top header profile area, click “My Friends” and from there right click and open the remove friend option in a new window. This has been what I’m doing and it’s working pretty fast, sadly I have tons of friends in which I have to remove and add again.

Best of luck everyone as I know this is going to improve Blog Engage traffic and relationship building dramatically! This is a great step into the right direction of making Blog Engage more of a community.     Thank you for implementing this feature. I have already added 80 friends before. Now I have to remove each one of them and add them back. It’s a massive job.. But have to do this.

      The only way I see doing this would be to run a query against the database to remove everyone’s friends so it would be site wide. I’m not sure if I will be doing it. I have to look into options I have. I’ll keep you updated!

    That was bad, you remove your old friend then add them again? Even though they got notifications to their email, this is not good as you think Brian.Thus, if this can help your blog to improve well, then it can be excellent! No reason to disagree!
