I decided to take Brian up on his offer to write a guest post for Blog Engage. When thinking of what to write I figured that writing a post that helped people get the most from their Blog Engage interactions.

1. Submit Your Posts

This may sound silly because you have signed up to BE and that is what you are supposed to do right!

You’ll be surprised how many sites I visit where the BE ‘vote’ button is installed and showing ’0′ votes. Submit your content on a regular basis to keep your blog ‘engaged‘.

If you write a great post then be sure to submit it to Blog Engage for everybody to read. Not sure how your post will be received? Submit it anyway, at least that way you’ll can get instant feedback that you can measure by way of:

  • the number of votes you receive
  • the number of visitors that come to your site directly from your submitted article
  • the number of comments you receive on your blog and here at Blog Engage
  • the number of people who go on to share your content across social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, etc.

Not many places will give you so many ways to measure the success of your writing.

2. Reciprocity

Take some time to visit your fellow bloggers’ sites and read their content. If you like what you read then give them a vote. If you have something of value to add to the conversation then leave a comment.

Don’t have anything to say but loved the article, share it using Twitter, Facebook and other social media sites. By doing this you will be supporting your fellow blogger and encouraging them to crank out even more great content.

NOTE: Blog owners and content publishers ‘do’ notice when their most active readers. Many, especially in the BE community, like to repay the favour in kind.

3. Stay Active

I’m guilty of going through periods of not being the most active member (work and life can get really busy) but here is a good tip that will allow you to stay connected even when you are not regularly updating your blog.

Share someone else’s great article with the BE community. Like I mentioned above, you will find BE members who do not submit all of their posts. If you find a post that you feel is worthy of sharing, share it for the BE community to enjoy.

4. Adsense Earnings

This goes without saying, whether you are submitting great content that you have created yourself or you are sharing other people’s articles, make sure you have set-up your Adsense Publiser ID in your BE account area.

By doing this, you will increase your chances of making some income from your shared articles.

5. Research Blog Engage

Take some time to look at all the posts that have been written about Blog Engage. There are lots of members of BE who have shared their ‘top tips’ for using Blog Engage. Be sure to implement the tips that you feel will benefit you and your readers the most.

6. Get Private Feedback

Sometimes blogging can seem a lonely existence. You may have a technical issue with your site, you may want some feedback on your blog writing, or maybe even a have a personal issue.

If this is the case reach out to your fellow BE members. I know I have answered peoples personal questions that have landed in my inbox and some great people of the BE community have answered mine.

This is the great thing about the members here, they really do take the time to ‘interact’ and ‘communicate’ with each other. That being said, I have found some of the warmest people on the net from my time on BE.

7. Ask The Community to get Involved

I wrote a post that asked the BE community if we could make Blog Engage History.

This call to action for my post, Google PageRank Score Too Low, resulted in 92 votes (come on guys and gals who haven’t voted, we are 8 away from the 100 votes milestone).

Write a post that asks for community feedback. Write a post that asks the BE community to take action. Let’s see where it takes you!

Now over to you. If you have a Blog Engage user tip I would love to hear it so please take a minute to share it below in the comments.

Regards,

Karl Foxley

BONUS TIP: Write a guest post for the Blog Engage blog. Writing a guest post is a great way to introduce yourself to the Blog Engage community and raise the awareness of your blog. Don’t forget, Brian sends out a news letter to all members so your post will be seen by the entire community.

Blog Engage is a community where bloggers come to unite. Bloggers from all over the world submit their articles into our community and engage with one another on a daily basis.

Sometimes we get caught up in all the possibilities Blog Engage has to offer but we must work hard to remember we are here to help one another and not simply submit our article links.

Blog Engage offers more then just another place to market and promote it offers an environment for leaning, sharing, caring and engaging.

I thought to myself what a better way to get the message out by writing an article on what makes Blog Engage the best community for any blogger.

Twitter: Blog Engage has so many bloggers with similar interests and by submitting your content to our community there’s a good chance your article will be re tweeted by many of our members.

Facebook: Many of our community members are active facebook users. By adding Blog Engage friends to your facebook profile you can once again increase your overall traffic. Many members will in fact “like” your article and share it with their blogging friends.

Article Submissions: By using the Blog Engage service you will see your article frequently getting submitted to other social networks. I have added quick links to all the article pages allowing our members to easily socially share your written content.

By selecting “Share This” under all submitted stories you will see a drop down to all your favorite article submissions websites. Easily help our friends market and promote their articles by submitting their content to other social networks.

Blog Comments: Yes Blog Engage is one the best places to get new comments to your articles. Blog commenting is a huge source of traffic for bloggers so they continually use Blog Engage to find new and interesting articles to comment on. By submitting your articles to Blog Engage your increasing the chances of getting new comments to your blog.

Building Relationships: One of the most important aspects to blogging is creating a bond or some sort of relationships with your readers. Blog Engage allows you to take part in many actions that will strengthen your relationships. You can build on current ones or create new ones simply from using our social networking community on a daily basis.

Do you have anything else to add? Did I miss anything that your currently using Blog Engage to do? Please share your feedback and let me know your thoughts.

Normally I don’t blog on weekends but we’ve had such an amazing week for overall traffic I wanted to share that news with you all.

This has been one of blog engage’s best weeks since the beginning of the year. We ended 2009 very strong and I assume the same will happen this year in 2010.

I was also hoping to discuss how you all take advantage of your blog planning and if you do anything on the weekends for the upcoming week. How better to do that with a good old Saturday posting.

I’ll be straight, I don’t do anything on the weekends. I do most of my blogging in the morning and or in the evening for the next day.

I like to enjoy my weekends and normally I’m pretty busy getting ready for another work week. So I tend to check my e-mails, visit blog engage to engage and then see what’s up on face book and twitter. Besides that I don’t really do anything else productive.

What’s your take? Do you enjoy blogging on the weekends? Are you preparing for the upcoming week or do you just relax and enjoy the time off?

It’s been a great week when it comes to the top articles at blog engage.

We had some amazing writers that have their selves in the top spots here within the blogging community.

I try and produce this article a few times a week but if I’m not successful I like to do a wrap up on the following Friday.

This list of blog articles is selected and voted on by our members and is in no way my personal preference even though I may have voted on each individual article.

The members have voted for these articles because they are friends and have enjoyed the bloggers written content. So enjoy the list, retweet, engage and socially interact with these great bloggers.

This is a great accomplishment so if anyone wants to prove their article was the best and most voted on simply add the Top Engaged on the week badge.

When I first started blog engage I had no blog what so ever. I knew I wanted to start a website and get into this thing they called web master status but had no clue how to achieve this.

The funny thing is I picked the name blog engage before I even knew what a blog really was let alone how many different blogs the web consisted of.

When I first started I thought the web was a tight niche community but man was I ever wrong.

FYI and for future reference the web is huge and far from being small. You have equal opportunity to make it in today’s blogging environments because we are all different and that’s what makes blogging so unique.

Once I actually started blogging I was embarrassed of it. I didn’t tell my friends and I pretty much kept it to myself. A lot has changed over the last two years and in this time my fear of blogging has faded and has now become a full time activity I enjoy.

If I was to pick one single thing that impresses me the most it would be how fast people come and people go within the blogosphere. Most of the blogging friends I meet when blog engage first started are no where to be seen and half have completely stopped blogging.

Truth be told blogging is not as easy as most people think; it takes time, dedication and commitment. Amongst other things it also takes creativity, uniqueness and the ability to socially interact with others.

I would like to think I have come a long way from when I first stated but on the same note I want to respect the amount of growth I still have to achieve. Like I stated the web is a huge place and right now I’m simply a needle in the hay stack.

At times it’s hard to stay motivated but don’t let that bring you down. If it gets really bad take a break and free your mind from this responsibility temporally. What ever you do don’t give up keep at it and if it still doesn’t seem like something you like that is fine, at least you gave it all you had.

If no one is commenting on your blog don’t get discouraged. Continue moving forward and keep on marketing. There is always someone out there that will be interested in what you have to say you just have to find them.

I see it all the time and trust me I’ve been there and done that. When people first start into social networking or social media marketing they always make the same mistakes.

Today I’m going to compile a list of things you don’t want to do when it comes to social media marketing and social networking.

What we have to understand first is what our end goal will be. Do we know what we want from our marketing efforts? Remember just like financial investments social media marketing has a return on investment too it’s just not based on money it’s based on time.

Things you don’t want to do.

Waste your time and energy – Make sure the community you are putting time into will provide quality feedback, back links and web traffic. Target your market correctly don’t waste your time in communities that provide no return on investment.

Create Multiple User names – So many times I see users sign up with different user names on many different websites. This is a huge mistake as your brand will no longer build up it’s reputation. keep your name consistent in every community or social network you join. This way people that already know you can easily fine you once again.

Be negative and rude – If you get negative feedback from a community member try to turn it around and make it positive. Don’t argue with anyone. Simply state you understand the concern and look forward to trying to fix the issue.

Market in random areas – Try and make sure you post your articles or questions in the most appropriate forums or categories. I see many people do this and it doesn’t look good on yourself and the brand your trying to build. It’s also less significant when it comes to SEO. If you post in a targeted category or forum it will create stronger back links for you in the long run.

Leave and never return – There’s nothing worse than someone that posts a question or promotes a service but never comes back to answer the questions of the community members. Subscribe to the comments make sure you are helping the members get answers to their questions. Take time and show that you care. This will help you in the long run and will create a way stronger brand.

Create duplicate content – When submitting to social networking websites make sure to use a unique title and descriptions. Don’t simply copy and paste your content. Write something unique that is relevant to your article. This will build a strong back link from any of your favorite social communities.

I know this isn’t the hottest list of social networking tips but trust me the small things make the biggest difference. Take time and work on your brand. Use the same user names and pay attention to the feedback your marketing efforts are getting you.
