Classic Mixed With ModernClassic and modern lines mix at the docks in Apponaug Cove

My background consists of a lifetime on the water and an engineer's education. Those two are not opposed. As a matter of fact, they have often complemented one another.

Walking among the boats in Apponaug, one sees where maritime and engineering collide. There is a bevy of designs made manifest. There are the classics with graceful lines. There are sharp-featured purpose-built modern boats. There are burly working boats. There are boats built for leisure.

This is where culture meets science and design. It is all elegant and in its own way, serene.

Woodsy Trail ReflectionsReflections and translucency on the Rome Point Trail

Walking the trail back from Rome Point we notice a pool of water. It's the day after a plentiful spring rain, so it is not a surprise that the pool has gathered near the trail.

There is more to the pool. In the midday sun, it reflects and shows is translucent all in one. Mirrored shapes of vines form. The growth of spring repeats in its verdancy.

And in delving into the reflection, we find the beauty of spring. Monet was on to something.
